The Libertines sign to Virgin EMI Records

British rock band The Libertines, best recognised for singles Can't Stand Me Now and What Became Of The Likely Lads, have signed a new worldwide recording contract with Virgin EMI Records.

The band, consisting of Pete Doherty, Carl BarĂ¢t, John Hassall and Gary Powell, reformed in April 2014 for a show at Barclaycard British Summer Time Hyde Park, and subsequently played two London shows. Doherty commented 'I don't know what to say, I'm so happy. It was a beautiful day'.
